It is known as "Mens-erger-je-niet" in the Netherlands, "Ludi" in the Caribbean, and "Fia" in Sweden.

It is played on a chessboard. The board is a square-checkered with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. In the game of chess one player controls sixteen pieces that include one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops and eight pawns. Every player wants to checkmate the opponent's king.

After the development of the information technology industry, many scientists have come up with chess playing computers. A similar computer known as Deep Blue beat the then chess world champion Garry Kasparov in a match in 1997.

Chess competitions started in the 16th century. When the official World Chess Championship started in 1886, Wilhelm Steinitz won the title. Bobby Fishcher was a great chess player. Anatoly Karpov and Garry Kasparov were other great chess players.
